2020 L5p- Whats normal operating temp?

My chevy 2500 runs a small hair above 210 and stays there. To note, it gets there fairly quick too. It takes about 4 mins of driving, regardless of outside temp and pegs there. Ive seen multiple people say this motor runs cooler and theirs is at 180 and wont go above, some say 210. Where is the discrepancy in operating temperature here? Whats a normal temp? Ive tried searching all over the web and on here and I cannot find anything indicating whats normal and whats not, also im curious as to why some trucks are different?

Assuming you have a diesel. Put mine down for running at roughly 180 and takes about 10 minutes to get there. I’ve only see it get to about 200 when towing my 17,000# toy hauler in the summer

It’s a diesel. I’ve seen people say they run 210 and others say exactly what you said and I have no clue as to why that’s the case. None.

My 2017 L5p Dinali always ran at 210 no matter the outdoor temp towing or not. When I picked up the 2020 I originally thought It had a stuck thermostat. I wouldn’t loose sleep on it.

If you have a handheld scanner that does live data see if there is any difference between the cluster and the scan tool. Often times on many vehicles the cluster will say 210 but the coolant temp is really less, GM has done that for a long time.

iDash says my 3500 AT4 is at 184-187, takes about ten minutes to get there.  I live in Phoenix area and have not towed any significant loads yet.  The digital image of an analog gauge on the drivers display, could be read as 210 degrees.

Ah so your dash says 210 but your reading 185ish?

Gauge in dash on mine pretty well stays around 210.

yes the digital needle tends to always stay at the 210 number, when in reality it is constantly fluctuating. i assume it will only move off of 210 when you are really starting to overheat. most of the time my 2019 L5P tends to stay around 180 ECT. (using banks idash)
