Lighted hitch cover troubles

Just got a lighted hitch cover for Christmas. Official licensed product.

 

Anyhow, it gives the truck an electrical fit every now and then. Activate the turn signal and blinks like normal at first then blinks fast as if a bulb is burned out. Warning messages will display on the dash saying to check trailer lights. When you first start the truck it knows something is plugged in and asks what you would like to do. It gives the option if its an accessory to hit cancel. However it will still give the truck a fit. 

 

Any idea whats going on or point in the right direction to read on it? 2020 6.2 Trailboss
