speed over 110 mile

today i tried to go over 110 mile but the truck will stop at or shutdwon for while until the speed go under 110 then i will have control to speed again is there anyway i can shut off this option so i will be able to speed above 110

No offense, but why would you want to go that fast (in a brick)?

 

In order to remove the rev/speed limiter, you need some sort of aftermarket tuner, like a Westers Performance PCM, Hypertech, or Diablo.

You can have the speed limiter taken out with a power programer. But why would you want to go faster than 100.

 

Remember these trucks are not made to run fast in a safety sense, ie tires speed ratings and handling set up.

I've gone well over 110 in my roommate's 01 sierra and let me tell you, the slightest movement you make in the steering wheel is amplified so be careful. As soon as that happened I slowed the thing down immediately.

110????? Mine shut off at 97 or 98 till I got my superchips.....but now with big tires I never go that fast.....shoot with the stock tires, I did it just because I knew when it cut off and I wanted to see if my speedo was correct with my GPS

I was a passenger in a 98 Crown Vic doing 114, and I likely wouldn't repeat that unless necessary, and that's a lot more stable a vehicle than a truck, and also has speed rated tires. Choose your driving carefully.

My 96 4.3l Blazer stopped at 96~97mph. And it wasn't smooth- I'd bump it and coast 'til 87~88 or so....

 

My 03 will do 101.... dunno or care 'bout much more. Think the DIC said 6 or 7 mpg !!!!! Eh, once was enough...

My dad has an 02 ext.cab Z71 and he has the power programmer III.I programmed for it to shut down at 114MPH and I hit it at 114MPH once and I never will do it again.It was scary.Goin that fast in a truck especially 4 wheel drive is crazy to me.I just wanted to see if it would hit 114MPH and it did with no problem and if I had it set higher it would have kept goin.I wont do it again though.

echo on the why 110 MPH, much less wanting to go above 85/90. Public highways and freeways are unpredictable surfaces. Unless weight distributed and some aero work done on the vehicle body along with suspension, the front end of most vehicles starts raising up at above 95 making it less controllable. Do you ever remembering just cruising around 65 hitting a small abnomally in the road and it shook the car. Now imagine hitting that same item with 1/3 less steering control thus overcorrecting your reaction.......

 

Even with the suspension modified TransAms I've had, public roads are scary at high speeds even without traffic in either direction.

 

 

That said, it doesn't mean doing 160 won't put a permanently etched grin in your memories. So, I can only remotely imagine what 200+ could be like on a race track.

 

So pay for a driving school to drive fast, not with your life and/or others on the public roads.

 

Ya it sucks to be getting old and start sounding like someone you'd never would be like.

Interesting comments. My truck actually handles really well at 90-95. I've done that many times on my way home. I know the road well and live out in the country.

My 02 Sierra Denali with a Wester's 93 Octane super tune was still pulling like a bear at 125 when I backed off. Handled like I was doing 80 and felt very stable and secure, I only backed off because the Denali tires are rated 112 MPH.

I ran my Superchips equipped 8.1 up to 125mph,it was still pulling when I lifted.It was smooth and steady,I chickened out and backed off.My 2000 Camaro SS has seen 175mph once.It was rock steady and less dramatic than I thought it would be and remarkable easy.600 horsepower and 4.10's with a 6sp pull hard.Both of these runs were made at 4 A:M and will never be repeated again.I do my racing at the track now.I rarely get above 80 mph anymore.

Years ago, I had a 1988 IROC-Z with the 5.7. Cruzed home from St. Loius one time at about 120 for a large portion of the trip. The front end would start to lift and feel "loose" at any higher speeds, but I did hit 135 once.

 

Ah, to be young and stupid again!!
