So have had any issues with my truck since i got it, today was a normal day, early morning to work, then lunch and head home, after work made a stop at the familes house, left and noticed that the truck was struggle, like something to do with the throttle, but no engine light came on, stuck to the feeder  (about 3 miles), if i got up over 45 or 50, things seemed normal. But lower speed it was more noticable. Idles fine, but while driving it just seems like it didnt know how to shift(maybe)

Before getting home, i stopped in a parking lot and let sit for about 20 minutes, and started back up and still there, then the noise i noticed once i was in the neighborhood since it was quiet so it was clear that there was a noise of some sort..

Truck has 46k miles, last oil change was around 42k

No other recent services performed on the truck

Since its the weekend, not planning on driving, but want to see what if anything i can check before monday..

Fluids?

Plugs?

Wires?

Bad Gas?

Im at a loss why everything was fine the first part of the day and now this..

Looking for some suggestions on things to check, since i dont remember getting the extended warranty, dealer is last on the list until i have tried what i can.

This morning i checked fluids and seem normal, checked trans fluid with truck off and on, checked out clean.Oil was normal levels.

Havent driven it, but while it was on, the sound i heard lastnight in the driveway was not there..

Any suggestions on other things to check?

Throttle body dirty?

Mass air flow sensor dirty/bad?

So today i took the truck around the neighborhood and no sound or struggling. Trans fluid temp got up to around 104 for that short drive.

After i got back home, i let it sit for a few minutes and decided to take it down the road about 1.5 mile round trip and struggled once, shifted funny once and trans temp got up to 133 this time around..

The sound could be heard when in closed area where it would echo off a wall and the only way to describe the noise, is it sounds like the noise a steering pump makes when its been run dry, but to be clear that is only what it sounds like, its not the steering thats the problem, just how it sounds so i can describe the noise when i rev it in the driveway.

During the longer drive, i did notice that even though the drive was going well, the rpm's would slightly jump up a bit, nothing noticable while driving, just noticed while watching the tach.

Can anyone offer suggestion on what it could be or what else to check? Should i clean the throttle body and Mass Air Flow sensor to rule those out?

Maybe it's in the transmission if it's a whine sound. Like pump or converter issue.

You leave it in auto4wd?

A whining noise is common in auto4wd, I’ve heard it before and am like wtf is that noise, then I remember i left it in auto4

Is the sound more louder or hear it more when you are going up hill?

No hills around to try, other than my driveway, at this point, not going to drive it until i figure out if i have the extended warranty.

but to answer while backing into the driveway saturday when i took it for a short drive, the sound got louder the more i gave it gas.

Also while in park if i rev it up, the sound is there and louder the higher i rev the rpm's

At first i thought maybe i had switched it into something accidently friday, but when i went out to check , it was still on 2wd.

I have only used the 4wd the year i got the truck when i was going hunting, other than that, never used it and havent purposely switched to 4wd for any other reason so far.

warranty verified, so having the truck picked up tomorrow afternoon to get it taken in. So we will see what they find..

Sounds like you have a transmission pump problem, keep us posted, but the whine, the lack of power, weird shifts...I'd say pump and torque converter.

That seems to be the consensus, the mechanic i take all my vehicles to, said the same thing, but because the truck still fell under the factory powertrain warranty(which i didnt know) the extended warranty company and the mechanic asked to take it to the dealership, so dropped it off friday evening, so hopefully will know something this afternoon or tomorrow..

I was reading and watching some videos that this year silverado was known to have a transmission issue. That there was a GM Bulletin for it, does anyone know of this and what bulletin it is?

My 2017 makes a whining sound in the first 3 gears or so . am gonna stop by my transmission builder for opinion .   he already told me these 6 speeds are notorious for shredding the pump and converters

So after not hearing from the dealership since monday i called yesterday and they said the tech agreed with the mechanic, that it seems to be the pump and torque converter, so they were already ordering the parts and would know more once they open it up and take a look inside. So as of yesterday, thats what the consensus was. We will see what they say today or tomorrow, when i get another update.

After a week and 2 days, got the truck back, it was def issues in the trans, but I forgot to bring the paperwork with me to post what they found.. Then as they said a "coincidence" my AC stopped blowing cold, which I don't know, but i know it worked before and didn't when i picked it up. Luckily I have the extended warranty, so ponied up the deduct and got that fixed.. But to me, still seems to make the noise, the drivability is def better, but they said that the computer is still going thru a relearn process which takes around 1000 to 2000 miles. is that a legit statement?

If it happens again, i mean ill still be within the powertrain warranty, but didnt know it had to relearn for that long when internal parts in the trans were replaced, not like they replaced it with a whole new trans.

but ill post a list of what they "found" and replaced to take care of the issues.,

    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
