I recommend going with a Delphi pump if possible. Here's a link to their catalog where you can find the correct P/N (https://partcat.com/delphi)

I found that Amazon had the cheapest Delphi pump but their compatibility function is not reliable.

so Use a Delphi or do not use a delphi?   How do I tell if it has 2 wiring connectors or just one with out taking it off? How do I determine of it has a Check valve or not?  all this  is asked by Delphi?

I would (and have) used Delphi pumps, but usually you get a better deal on Amazon or RockAuto than at your auto parts store so once you have your P/N shop around a bit.

The easiest way to tell is to look at your build sheet. If your build sheet shows the "EVA" RPO code then you have the evap system and 2 electrical connectors. If your build sheet does not show "EVA" then you have no evap system and one connector. If you don't have your build sheet you can get it from GM customer service ([email protected]by sending them your VIN and asking nicely.

all I have is the codes in the glove box. it is a EVA code I haven't looked for a RPO  I tried to get under it today and put my hand on it or  see  the top, On such luck, Couldn't even get my arm past the Driveshaft of muffler.

"EVA" is the RPO code. FG0053 is for "EVA" models according the Delphi chart

I would get FG0407 instead. That one works whether or not the check valve has been updated, 0053 only works if it hasn't been. Why take the risk

Update on my fuel pump.

Took the members advice and bought the whole unit  FG0407 as my fuel gauge has been non-working for a long time.

Bought it from Rock Auto as it was the cheapest place to  buy.

Got it in last week and had a chance to change it out yesterday,

Easy enough to change, must removed the old unit, greased up the new rubber gasket, pushed it into place and  tightened the ring, changed out the new connection , it was not marked with numbers but was colored coded as the old wires were.

 It all worked fine.

Parked vehicle back into the garage and I hear a rattling like the brakes are creaking or the alternator bearing is bad, kind of like that but popping and creaking every few seconds , I put it in park and take my foot off the brake and its still doing it, so I figure its the alternator bearing or an idler pulley, ( sounds just like that).

I open the hood, nothing there making noise , sounds like underneath so I crawl under the transmission, and nothing ,but I can hear it, , a baffle in the muffler? no. its coming from the gas tank, I put my ear to the plastic tank bottom and its the pump rattling.

Get my stethoscope and take the gas cap off , sure enough its the pump  rattling like a bad idler pulley sounds.

So I guess buying the best is not good enough.

Got Zero miles on the pump. sounds like it could quit anytime.

OK no one replied to the "Knocking Delphi fuel pump" so I guess I'm the only one that ever experienced this.

The knocking or rattling pump did fix my low pressure stalling issue   but I felt that in 30-90 days I would have a bad pump on my hands again so I filled out the warrenty on the Rock Auto website and bought another new Delphi FGO407  unit and paid them for it, so when it came in I could return the knocking unit for a refund on it.

I did the warrenty work Saturday, got the new pump today and installed it, started the Pickup and it sounded good no knocking. Packaged up the other one along with papers for return papers and took it to the FedEx drop site.

Now I'm back to stalling and lurching.

When I returned home I put my fuel gauge on it and I have 46 psi with regulator hooked up and 52 psi with it unplugged.

Is this for real? I never got a bad pump in my life and I have bought bottom of the barrel pumps in the past. I get 2 Delphi units and both have issues. am I the only one ever to do this?

I had exactly less than 15miles on the first and the second one I almost didn't make it back home.

This is why I have made it a point to have at least 3 fuel pumps.  1 for when the in-tank pump fails and two to back that one up.  I've gotten them off of Amazon and eBay, and I usually get just the pump itself.  Though I will have to cut a hole in the bed to fix it myself the next time, because the pump always fails me at the worst time or place (thank God I'm not a cop working in East LA).

Thanks carl for the reply, I cant believe that I got TWO  Delhi units and both have issues. As soon as I get my money back from Rock Auto on the first unit, I am going to turn this one in to see If I can get credit on  the 2nd one. Then I may buy a Carter or a cheap AirTex to see if they will pump at least 58 PSI and not rattle whine or knock.

I went and dug mine original one out of the dumpster so at least If I want to I can get a new pump and fuel sensor for it and rebuild it. At least it didn't whine but would only pump at 45PSI. I don't think I can buy a stand alone pump or fuel sensor for the Delphi units or aftermarket units so that is why I am keeping the original unit and its wiring  connector.

I am glad that I decided to  cut a door in the bed to change this pump  instead of dropping the tank or taking off the bed, as it is , looks like I would need to hinge the door.! I guess China is screwing up all our import parts now.

    • 287,500 Mile Service   8/13/2026   Reset Fuel Trims   Since the work done in the previous post there was a good improvement in response in all areas except right after a fill up where the LTFT would go -20%+ for about four miles while the STFT was near neutral. Before the work they both went very negative for a few miles after a fill up but act normal thereafter.    We did a systems check of the vapor recovery system for functionality and ability to hold a vacuum. That checked out fine. But this doesn't mean the charcoal canister is dead in the water. Testing that is next up. For now the reset of the fuel trims.    I intentionally shorted the fill exactly two gallons to eliminate any chance of filling the canister. On start up the trims were behaving normally until I got up and rolling where the LTFT went -10 / -11%% but the short was + 2 to 0%. Within a mile the the STFT offset the LTFT and by 2 miles they were neutral. HUGE improvement but still not hunky-dory.    I'll watch them for a few days. Perhaps another tank where I will fill completely to 'first click' and compare. Meanwhile on the hunt for a new canister and I'll toss another purge value at it for good measure. Pending the outcome of the canister test that is. Progress of any kind is welcome.    Fuel economy improvement with bringing hole #3 back to the living was a noticeable bump to the positive. Even on the few miles I drove after the refill I already see another bump up by the trims reset.     She's purring like a kitten with a warm bowl of milk.    BTW, adding 50 rpm to the idle took the majority of the negative timing out on cold start up and leaned the cold idle. No longer burbles in the cat. What a dumb way to heat a cat.
    • Yeah, shame I can’t really get that filter easily anymore. Running a PureOne. Your fave!    TAN would be neat to see. Confirmation I ran it too long probably. 🤣
    • My son and I both bought new trucks in 2017. Both of us immediately put Truck Covers USA American Roll Covers on our trucks. My son still has his truck and it never sees the inside of a garage. We live in Alabama, so not much snow. My truck was my daily driver and was in the garage when I wasn't driving it or at work. No issues with either cover even after almost 9 years. About a year ago I sold my truck to my brother and bought a 2025 Silverado 2500. The second thing that I put on that truck was a new Truck Covers USA cover. They are very well made and have a very positive locking system. I looked at a Retrax and my concern was the way that the cover locked to the rail. BTW, the first thing I put on the new truck was step bars. Those new trucks are high!
    • The Allison 10 speed torque converter doesn't "lock up" like the previous transmissions. It has 4 operational modes; open, slip, transition from open to slip; transition from slip to open. I have an Edge CTS3 monitor and I monitor transmission torque converter slip. Step on the gas and you get a little slip. Take your foot off the gas and you get a little negative slip. I have not found a way to display the torque converter mode beyond that. My Edge CTS3 also displays something that our trucks should already display, the current gear. I also monitor throttle body position and engine load. If I see the engine load getting too high, I'll manually drop a gear.
    • Nice result. Your filter is working well  I'd have like to have seen the acid number for this sample. Curious type that I am.
