I did a DOD delete on my 2007 Silverado. The cam gear is hitting the cam sensor. What did I do wrong?

Could be that you got the wrong part number sensor in there. Did this engine come out of a GMT-800, or the 900 series truck? There's a HUGE difference between the 2, and they do not interchange.

Another possibility is a poorly manufactured aftermarket sensor was built to the wrong specs.

I got the GM sensor and it’s the same exact size. I am wondering if there is another size. I used the single bolt GM cam. But that motor had the sensor on the side of the block. Cam shouldn’t be longer should it?!?

The GMT-900 used a Gen IV engine - that cam sensor is in the timing cover. The earlier generation is in the back of the block. I'm fairly certain the part numbers between the 2 are different.

This one is in the cover. I put the GM one in and slowly turned. And it still hits the sensor. Can the cam plate go on backwards?

I don't know the intricate details of these engines, since it's easier for me and cheaper for the customer to have a new engine installed when they fail. I do know that the covers on these engines - both the timing and rear main - require an alignment tool to re-install if removed - that would most certainly cause the problem if that wasn't done.

Make sure you have the correct part number sensor before you go pulling it all apart again. Could just be the wrong sensor. I would get the number off the old one and reference that.
