is there such a thing as a 4l60 e for this truck with a 15 pin connecter or is this a 4l70 trans.  my code in glove box says M 30  but my trans guy in Georgia says BS.

I think technically they are called 4L65e and 4L70e because they are a 15 pin connector. Those ran from 2006-2009. Then in later 2009 they switched to a 17 pin connector.

But overall the transmission is still a 4L60e with just some upgraded bits inside so it's a 65/70e.

the other thing i dont understand is that there is a 4L70 code that is used on the glove box sheet and mine doesnt have it so whats the difference between my 15 pin 4l60 e and a 4l70 e. its really driving me nuts that GM says one thing and my very reputable tranny guy whoose been doing it sinse 1980 say way different things and because of it i ve already recieved and installed one wrong tranny so far and cant afford to get another wrong one. any one know what the cerial number should look like for a 4L70 e trans? i think they used them in the MAX trucks.

From what I've found the differences are the output shaft being different, and there is an input shaft speed sensor on the 4L70E. The 70e was rated to handle more torque than the 60/65e.

If you don't have a VMAX truck with a 6.0 and just have a 4.8/5.3 then it's going to be a 60/65e transmission.
