Theft Deterrent System issue?

2015 Silverado 2500 Double Cab w/6.0

the issue is that every once in a while, when I start the truck, it won’t start and the Theft deterrent light comes on.  If I turn the key off and try again, starts fine.  Also, this happened once. I turned off they key and s as lol if the electronics shut down (radio. Dash lights, etc.). Truck would not start, no dash lights and a clicking sound.  Jump started the truck snd everything was fine again.  I have a work badge with a chip in it but, I put it in a sleeve to prevent miscommunication.  I’m thinking it’s either my key or the theft deterrent system.  Thanks got your help in advance.

I've had something similar happen to me. Turns out I had a buildup of lint in the groves of the key. Cleaned it out and all good. Sounds crazy but it worked.

Did you use compressed air or anything special?

No just used a thin blade to clean the groves.

Try different key to see if problem continues.  Maybe chip going bad?
