Mitchell Bardet Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 Have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 4l60e. Transmission was replaced about 3 years ago and has less than 25k on it. Recently started having problems shifting into reverse. When going from park to reverse transmission will feel like its slipping, but if shifted into neutral after initially shifting into reverse, then back into reverse from neutral it feels fine, no slipping. Low line pressure? Reverse solenoid? Fluid is full. Any help would be great
Jsdirt Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 You're probably long past the warranty period for that regardless of where it was installed, but on the slim chance that it's still covered, I'd investigate that route first. Could just be needing a shift cable adjustment, possibly. I would check under there and make sure something didn't come loose, or broke. If that all checks out, since you're about at the point where I'd want to be changing the filter anyway, get a new gasket and filter, drop the pan and check the internal shift mechanism for any bent or loose parts. Usually that results in shifts that don't have detents, or notches in them (an easy shift pull when it should stop at each position) rather than a slipping gear. You could have internal issues already. Some builders aren't like other builders, unfortunately ...
