Turning off Spotify autoplay behavior

Hello all. 

 

I have a 2017 Silverado LT truck that I use with my android phone connected via bluetooth.  Problem I have is phone based spotify starts playing over the trucks audio system utomatically everytime I get in and crank truck up.

 

I'd like for to just start spotify when I open the spotify app on my phone. Instead its non stop playing unless I hit pause on trucks screen.  After researching on line I've yet to find a solution.  I've looked at the settings in the phones app console to switch this off in the phone.  No solution found other than to remove spotify from phone.
