**Update** I went ahead and contacted the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Protection here in my state. I told them the situation and they informed me they were sending an inspector out to the gas station where I filled up to collect a sample for data analysis. I also learned that if you submit a sample of fuel from your vehicle they will test this as well. Once everything is back from the lab I will receive both test results. I am hoping to eliminate the possibility that I got a tank of “bad fuel” and find the real problem.

I have the same issue with my 3.0L. Fuel knock is horrible, even more so when it's trying to regen. The manual supplement states this engine is designed for Top Tier Diesel which is sold at select retailers, none of which are anywhere close to me. GM only recommends their diesel fuel supplement which is a joke, none of the dealers around me have it in stock and is way over priced. I use Opti-Lube Boost which is Cetane and lubrication only. It helps but does NOT eliminate it. Very Frustrating but not nearly as frustrating as having multiple CEL issues and the dealer not being able to find the root cause. Trucks has been at the dealer for weeks now and will likely be there a few more. I have called GM and this has supposedly be escalated to their senior service team for whatever that's worth. No communications from them either. I do know the codes are emissions related. Supposedly there is a service bulletin but the troubleshooting is fairly extensive. Truck has 6500 miles on it. ANY ideas of how to get GM's attention to help solve my problem would be greatly appreciated... I'm new here so please keep the heckling to a minimum..LOL

After researching a bit I found a few post and videos about the 3.0 liter Duramax and fuel knock. One person mentioned that he had the injector codes reflashed to the ECM and this solved his problem. I listened to the video and the sound was very similar to mine.

The video in post #39 sounded EXACTLY like my engine. Also see #35 the guy there explains the procedure and purpose behind resetting the fuel injector QR codes.

VP makes an all in one I use and like it.  Comes in quarts containers and one is good for like 250gl or so.  Seemed to be the best bang for the buck.

**Update** Test results came back and the fuel was good there is something else going on. Looking at requesting an injector QR code reset. Also developed a tapping at idle when hot. All the fuel knocking must have worn something out.
