10-Speed Transmission HELP - Is dealer telling me the truth?

Recommended Posts

I made an appointment to have the transmission fluid changed in my 2018 Yukon XL Denali with the 10-speed and the service department is telling me I do not change the filter because its metal.  Is this true or should that be changed as well?  I am at 50k miles.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds to me like they just want to flush it.  10 speeds use Dexron ULV and make sure they put nothing but that inside it.

thank you for your feedback.  You don’t happen to know the GM part for that filter, do you? I want to give them that and ensure they use the correct ATF.

Thank you!

There is a better ATF than the GM fluid and thats AMSOIL Signature Series ATL. It meets sthe ULV spec.  AMSOIL has been making 100% synthetic ATF since 1980.

Love Amsoil, i wonder if the dealership would even use that or if they would say they have to use Dexron.  Maybe i'm better off bringing it to an independent shop.

Milk isn't milk because the carton says it's milk.

It's milk because what's in the carton IS milk.

If a chemist test it it proves to be milk.

SO.............forget the label.....

If a chemist were to test a bottle of AMSOIL SS ATL what spec would it meet?

DEXRON ULV!

But it would also meet the MERCON LV standard and be backward compatible with Dexron III

That's allot to put on a label
