Well since my birthday is coming up my Dad's going to get me a bike rack.  I haven't used my mountain bike my parents bought me for my 15th birthday for about a year (go figure, give a kid a license and he doesn't use his bike).  I want to start mountain biking again, I'm just sick and tired of the boring trails around here.  Wisconsin here I come.  Anyways I'm looking for a good bike rack that fits in a 2" hitch (Ahhh yes, I can finally use my hitch).  I need it to fit at least two bikes, have its on meathod of clamping down the bikes, and either fold down or swing out of the way so I can open my tailgate.  So let's see who all the mountain bikers on this site are!!

firecadet613,

I have a rack that is pretty simple and works good with the lift gate. It is one of the cheaper racks that I found at Farm & Fleet. It is made by Valley Hitch. It is their SportRack which holds 4 bikes and hinges away from the vehicle. Here is a link for you to see it.Valley Hitch SportRack You and Jon will have to hook up with me some day for some riding.

You could try Super Go or Summit Racing are 2 of the ones that come to mind immediately.  Yu could also try looking in the back of Mountain Bike, or some other publication.  I'm considering getting one to span the bed so I can mount multiple bikes.

What kinda bike ya got? :D

I've got one of the Graeber hitch mounts.  The only thing I don't like about it is that it does not lock the bikes (bikes held in place with 2 rubber straps).  I went with the hitch type because it leave the bed free for other gear.

Well I get a phone call from my dad while I was at training last night..he picked me up a Saris T-Rax 2 bike hitch bike rack.  Looks pretty nice, I didn't get a chance to take it out of the box last night, and I just got up so I'm gonna take a peek in a bit.

Well, I was gonna say, do you plan on using the trailer at the same time?

I went and bought an OSI three bike rack.  Instead of it plugging into your hitch receiver, you get a rack that slides over your receiver tongue (you also need to buy a longer tongue which it slips over).  This allows for you to use the rack while you also have the trailer hooked up.

It's pretty trick and is awesome at the drag strip when you're running around in the pits :D , especially at Route 66!   :ehh:
