2021 Silverado 1500 speaker upgrade

Newbie here but a lifelong Chebby driver. I just traded in my 2018 2500HD LTZ on a 2021 RST Rally Edition which was a big step backward as far as options go but because of some recent surgery I had I could no longer get into the 2500 comfortably and also the dealership offered me $3000 less than I paid for it 4 years  ago so I couldn't say no lol. My question is my 2500 had the Bose stereo in it with all the bells and whistles and this 21 has the 8 in head unit but doesn't have the Bose speakers and it really sounds like poo. Has anyone here upgraded their speakers and added a sub to their 20 or 21 1500 and if so what speakers did you go with ?

Checkout crutchfield.com, they have great information on speaker upgrades.

 

If all you want is more bass, then just adding a subwoofer would fix that.

 

If your looking for overall sound quality, then the cost to upgrade all the speakers in the truck, it would just make more sense to take back your 2021 and ask for the same truck but with the Bose option.  

 

The reason I say this is, aftermarket speakers require more power than your stock head unit can produce.  Thus, to get the best sound you would need to add an amplifier as well.  Of course, the aftermarket speakers will work but the full benefit of the higher quality speakers would not be realized without the amplifier.

 

Honestly, I just go back to the dealer and get one with Bose in it.

i put aftermarket speakers from crutchfield in my GMC ( no bose) and yeah the sound is marginally better but for sure needs an amp......if you could take it back and get bose without taking a huge hit maybe an option otherwise you will need more than just speakers......maybe just a sub would do the trick, idk

 

i did install my speakers it was fairly easily but doing an amp is out of my ability so would I have to have it done professionally....

Yeah taking it back isn't really an option I wonder if someone makes a amp you can add to the factory head unit to power the door and dash speakers

Confirm your infotainment RPO before ordering, there are two different ones. Yours should be IOR though.

 

If you want to add just the sub I have the GM Kicker kit listed in the classifieds.

LLJ customs makes a loop back harness which is plug n play. I have one in my 2020 RST non-bose.

About the loop back harness from Llj customs was it hard to install? I am wanting to order one but I can not seem to figure out what I need.
