The 9005, 9006, and the 880/893 are the really bright white that everyone has been talking about, right? What is the difference b/t the 880 and 893 fogs? If the 893's are more powerful, will they melt the fog light housing?

the 880 is 27 watt bulb

the 893 is 38 watt bulb

I have been running the regular sylvania 893s for about a yr and a half now without any melting problems

Only melting problems i have heard occurred when a bulb of 50 watt or higher was used

well I changed em out tonight. took 5 min to put em in (in the dark i must add). They are definitely whiter than the ones I had and they match the headlights much better. However I think the headlight bubl change is more dramatic and is a more noticable change

I agree the low beam headlight change toi Silverstars was very dramatic. The high beam change was not as niticible to me.

Will someone please suggest a kit that will allow the four lights (low and High) on at the same time but is simple enough for even me to install.

I would put in the Kennedy Diesel headlight kit, it is worth the $. I don't know if it is just me, but my Silverstars only lasted about 8 months. According to the Sylvania site, the expected life is about a year. Thats pretty crappy considering their $40 a pair.

Painless Performance Products makes one for GM trucks. I don't have one installed on mine but my friend installed one in about ten minutes. They also have manuals on how to install them. I can't remember how much it costs but I seen them in several gm truck accessory vendors.

I'll be greatly disappointed if that ends up being the case.

The best kits to run all four lights together, without cooking your wires, seem to be available from Kennedy Deisel, Caspers Electronics (reportedly the same kit), or from suvlights.com. These kits also have the advantage of providing maximum possible voltage directly to the lights.

Does anybody know why the Kennedy/Casper kits cost so much more than the suvlights kit? I'd like to know if there is any benifit to spending the extra cash before I do.

Hmmm, it's been over a year since I got the truck's Silverstars, and they jumped from the truck to the car for a few months, then back to the truck. Never burned out  Maybe I should do more of the late night drivin':nono:

Mine are about 1 year 6 months old and they get a lot of use. No problems yet.

I jumped on the bandwagon myself and installed the S.S's in my truck yesterday. I couldn't believe the difference on the drive in this morning. It's much brighter than the stock bulbs. Now my fogs look like amber compared to the bright, almost blue tint the S.S.'s shed on the tarmac!! :fume:
