Hello Im new here and need help with my old truck.
2003 silverado 5.3 ex cab 4x4 base model.
about 5 years ago I started to get steering binding so I took it to a shop and they replaced the steering gear box and power steering pump. After installation it was really hard to turn the wheel and shop said air in lines and it will get better. It got a tad bit better and fast forward to today and the steering is the complete opposite and is super easy to turn but if I let go of the wheel it will continue to turn without me. I shot the parts cannon at it and replaced upper control arms steering stabilizer links inner and outer tie rods. new shocks all in the front. did not do the lower control arms.   steering is more solid but the super easy turning still there.  I don't see how the gear box might be a problem again.  dealer thoughts are something in the steering column.  I can see if I was having noises in steering column but not the looseness in turning,  so what yall think
ps dealer wants 65 bucks to diagnos but Im sure they will com back with a bill of 1000 bucks to fix it

at this point I would also agree with the dealer and say something in the gear box.  To be honest, since you have no clue, the 65 bucks would be the route to go.  I know paying it sucks, but if you get a direction to go, then sometimes its worth it.
