On my 2014 Silverado I was able to browse and select the content on my USB drive.  On the 2021 Silverado I cannot browse the content on my USB drive until I come to a complete stop. Yet I'm able to browse my XM radio.

I'm going to be the a-hole and say that I'm glad to read that because distracted drivers cause so many problems.  I'm also aware you're likely to respond with some statement about how you're different.  I really don't care.

Now that's out of the way, here's a suggestion I would try.  Upload everything you have on your USB onto your cell phone.  Connect your cell phone to your truck via wifi.  I'm able to browse all my music on my phone this way, while driving, and use the steering wheel controls to do it.  I see everything in the DIC in my truck when doing this.  You could use the touch screen buttons in the radio display, or the hard buttons under the radio display, too.

Well, you know I discovered this on my first 1000-mile trip ('21 Denali) while using the infotainment while traveling at 75 MPH.  However, on my second 1000-mile trip I figured out I can search some 4,000 songs on my USB while using the DIC.  All smiles from then on.  I guess GM just wants us to use the DIC for searches at those speeds which is fine.

Perhaps it needed to finish indexing the 4000 songs...before you could search them?

That's the problem, my 2021 will not allow me to do that on the DIC.  The DIC informs me I have to be stopped even when I have the files on my phone.

Now my turn to be the A-Hole.  Browsing your phone is more distracting then browsing on the screen right in front of you.  But of course, you're different.  Besides, they still let you browse radio stations, XM, etc, just not your USB library, so I call BS on the whole safety argument.

Hasn't a thing to do with which is more safe. Anything that shifts you focus from driving is dangerous. Has to do with what will be tolerated. Radio's have been in cars since 1924. Try taking that away from the public.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_audio#:~:text=In 1924%2C Kelly's Motors in,branded radio receiver for %24130.

I'm fond of the message that pops up every so many key cycles about 5 minutes into my drive that says. "

WARNING!!

"Don't read this message while driving"

:idiot:

My phone asking for gas from Gas Buddy

"Are you the driver or a passenger"

in print not voice

:banghead:

Not about safety. About legal liability

If a passenger is in the seat, you can press "browse" and it will ask if you are the passenger. If yes, It will then let you browse.

I need a bypass for my seat switch.
