How is GM going to add missing options due to Microchips ?

So how is GM planning to missing options like heated seats on models already sold to consumers becauseof the microchip shortage?  Is all the wiring in place or is it like installing an option to a work truck?

 

I'm planning on buying a Silverado very soon and was wondering.

I'm told everything is in place except the module. You will get the module and programming free when available.

One of my buddies just bought a new Sierra last week and he's waiting on the one for his heated seats. He's got a button that doesn't do anything until the chip comes in. The dealer gave him some kind of $50 credit or gift card for the inconvenience.
