I have a 2022 GMC At4 and the sevrce 4wd comes on and the 4wd will not work, Also the parking brake comes on when this happens, After I shut the truck off for a few hrs it works again, There are no codes and the dealer says nothing they can do. Anyone have this issue fixed and what did they do to fix it?

That sounds like a maybe a short circuit in wiring or more likely a connector as opposed to a sensor malfunction or software problem.

Your dealer saying “nothing we can do” is a complete BS answer.  You have a malfunction that is disabling your new truck. Take it to a different dealer if you can. If not, keep taking it to your dealer each time it happens and after three visits (or whatever your state law requires) start the lemon law process. Meanwhile try to get the GM ombudsman involved. My guess is GM will give direction to the dealer to try to avoid an obvious required-buyback case.

Edit:  take a video of what’s going on each time it happens so you can provide it to the dealer and GM.

Thanks I appreciate it. Yeah I have taken it to the dealer 4 times now and everytime I get there and it goes away. After I told them I seen hundreds of people on line having the same exact issue and they have replaced everything and it still does it they said yes we have 6 other 2022 at4s with the same problem but there Nothing we can do, GM needs to do a update or something that's not available. They told me keep the traction control off and it should help. I told them I use this truck for work and spent $80k on it this is not acceptable they brought me in the sales managers office and said ok we can get the ball rolling on buying it back.. I already had plow, salter, lights put on it and most likely the new one will do it to if we take it that far..

I suspect they are more willing to buy it back these days because they can “inspect it” and then sell it used easily, possibly even making some money.

Glad to hear they are at least trying to help you. When you earlier said they told you “nothing we can do,” I thought they were just refusing to do anything.”

So from what you’ve heard and read this is unique to the AT4?

I have the same exact issue.  I trade in my 2016 duramax specifically for the 10-speed transmission and the auto trac transfer case.  Got the truck in March, 2021 with 13 miles on it.  It has 14K on it now.  Happened the first time last month.  Was hauling a 19K load on a bumper pull trailer through shitty road conditions.  I would say I went about 40 miles, turned onto a unplowed street, and bam, Service 4WD and the "auto" indicator on the right side of cluster changed to orange.  Still said it was in "auto" but no power to front wheels.  I had to have a 2020 Dually without auto t-case come pull me out.

Took it to a dealer, not selling dealer, and was told it was a can bus error because I have a Edge CTS3 monitor plugged into OBD port.  Also, by the time I took it to them later in the day it had already reset and was working again.

Fast forward to last weekend we had another snow storm, driving in auto again, about 20 miles in, boom same message and back in 2WD even though truck said AWD.

Called selling dealer whom is taking it tomorrow and giving me a loaner.  I've read all sorts of things they dealers try and none seem to fix it.  What a mess!

I have found that if you turn the truck off and while starting it push the drive mode you want, it will shift.  So in my case this past time I shut it off and immediatly restarted it while pushing 4HI.  It started up and switched to 4HI and even though it was still lit up yellow and said service I actually had 4WD.

Wow yeah that's the same exact issue I'm having! All the dealer tells me is G.M is working on a update but there is no fix for it right now. Next time it happens I'm going to try and shut it off and turn it on pushing the 4wd button. Thanks I appreciate it. They told me to make sure the traction control is off then hold the button down to till it says ecs off also before using 4wd and I haven't had it happen since I been doing that but I'm not  Convinced that's the issue

Same here. Had a 2018 2500 Chev desiel from brand new and not a bean of issue with 4wd even with some harsh plowing. Got 2022 Chev 2500 desiel ltz and got plow on it yesterday.  did my driveway for 20 minutes with first use of plow and then went to check on a friend. Got a mile down the road and ding ding ding. Service 4wd. Not even 200kms on the Odo!!! Will scan tommorow and see what codes I'm getting. Very frustrating.

I did check underneath and the bottom of the truck is full snow. Wonder if a sensor is frozen or something. Truck was sitting outside at -20c 2 days last week at work and no issues.

I have had it on AWD Ford Transits when it's cold, their transfer case doesn't work and you just get RWD until the van warms up.

Any others having the same issue would be valuable to know what they find out. Hopefully MAGNA and GM did their homework before putting this in the trucks from the 1500 chassis.

Ok so code is C119e-5a. Range actuator system perfomance. I was able to temporarily clear the code and then as soon as I started truck I turned system to auto. Now able to switch to what ever I want. Also c15ac.

There is a open NHTSA bulletin on it: 10187740. Looks like GM is needing more vehicles to go wrong before fixing it...

Any updates on this issue?

-7F outside and went to run errands at lunch and had truck in Auto4x4. Snow covered streets. all the sudden, Service 4wd displayed and Auto icon on display is orange. Only 2wd... Weird the parking brake sets every time I put in park now. Releases when I go into drive and tap the accelerator pedal.
