I here a noise like a fan with a ticking noise or bad bearing noise coming from the onstar mic area of my 2001 tahoe. it has rear air but changing the rear fan speed does not change noise. What is this noise?

Had the same thing in my 2000 Tahoe think they called it an evaporator or something like that... It's on the left side of the headliner by the drivers left ear yes?

Welcome to the board...that noise that you are hearing actually is a fan...it is in the headliner just above your head. It is for the automatic climate control...that is how the truck tells what tempurture it is inside the cab. The onstar mic is actually attached to the driver's side of the overhead console - it is black, I believe.

I think I have the same problem. The noise is very annoying and it didn't start until a few weeks back. How can this be resolved?
