Dash Gauges

I was in a VW Passat this weekend and fell in love with the cool looking Gauges.

Is there a company out there makes instrument panels for these trucks with different lighting schemes?

I have a 2000 silverado 2500. The white gauges are pretty cool but I was looking for something a little more basic, Maybe same sort of look just with the blue and red lights.

Also, is it possible to change the LED lights that light up the auto windows and other dash panel?

Where did you get the white cluster?

The White Face Gages in my truck are made by NR Auto. It is actually an overlay... You just pop the gage cluster out, peel off the stock overlay, and apply the new one. The only trick is putting the needles back on in the right place!!!

I used to have a link, and I will try to find it and post it here, but there is a way to change the bulb color of the dash lights. It is really pretty easy.

Has anyone tryed adding a tranny temp guage to factory guage set in a 2003 1500 Chev? Are the guages all modular or one printed circiut? The one at JP say that the guage in thier clusters will work after it is installed. I'd like to have the guage but don't want to change my cluster.

All of the gauges are built on a single flat cluster with a single circuit board. If you want the stock look, you will need to change the cluster and have the mileage transferred to the new one. When you plug it in the tranny gauge will work. I did that on my 2000 Z71. I think it would be too much work to try to add a gauge to the stock cluster, and you stand the possibility of destroying the one you have in the process. Get the new cluster, it is 4 screws and one plug. I did mine in the parking lot of the place that transferred my mileage, took less than 10 minutes.

Good Luck,

Thanks, any available in Canada or do i have to order on from the US? Customs are a pain. If so what is the damaged ($) expected?

Yes, but they are not LED lights. They are just tiny bulbs. You can replace the tiny bulbs with a bare LED and a resistor. Some soldering may be required.

Have you done this?

Where do I find the LEDs and resistors?

It sounds pretty easy to do, if I figure out how to replace the Dash lights I might consider doing it.

Replacing the lights sounds a whole lot cheaper then buying a new cluster.

Thanks,

You can try stylinconcepts.com

They have just about everything. I have noticed you will definitely need to bring your checkbook with you. I was going to change out my 2003 Tahoe cluster with a Escallade cluster (so sweeet and nice color) but if I recall, they were around $400 to $500 dollars.

Needless to say, I didn't change it out. I can deal with stock. I would use the white faced gauge cluster overlay (which is nice) but it would clash big time with the total dark interior I have.

cheers and good luck

covvy, rcj_houston,

It is a standard gm part number. 2001/2002 GMC Yukon Denali Cluster

GM Part # 16252295, 2002 Cadillac Escalade Cluster GM Part # 15073350, 2003 Cadillac Escalade Cluster GM Part # 15182142 , 1999 2500 Series Truck Cluster GM Part # 9363065. They are available @ any gm dealer. Keep in mind however, that @ the dealer it is aroung 400 bucks. Try aftermarket places in Canada for the cluster. If you have a 1500, just ask for an HD cluster, or a Yukon/Denali cluster. That will have the gauge in it. You can try GM Parts Direct. Price is $209@Gmparts direct. Don't know how they handle shipping to Canada, but it's worth a try. Good Luck.

MTmace2,

Here is the link to the bulb upgrade. While you can use LED's, you can also use standard bulbs. Check this out...Custom Bulb Swap

Good Luck

So, could I just order a silver-faced Escalade cluster from gmpartsdirect.com and plug it right into my '04 Silverado or is there an adapter required?
