Throttle body spacer

I’m thinking of installing a throttle body spacer on my truck. I have a 00 Sierra with the 5.3. Just wondering if any of you guys or gals that have them installed along with the K&N FIPK saw an improvement? Any pro’s or cons are appreciated.

My cousin installed one of those in his 97 Tahoe with the 350 in it. He said it helped the power, but now at around 1850-2100 rpms it has this horrible whistling sound (which is bad because you spend most of your time in that rpm range). You get used to it, but I give him crap alot about the "birds" that live under his hood.

My opinion on TB spacers is that they're useless for current vehicles. TBI and Carb trucks/vehicles would benefit, the spacer MIGHT help swirl the air/fuel mixture and get it to mix better. With port injected engines, by the time the air charge gets to where it's mixing with the fuel, the benefit of the spacer is gone. Now, you COULD bore the TB out as some Dodge owners are doing, this allows more air in. That is, of course, if there's enough material to do such a thing.

I've got the Airaid TBS, I put it on right after I bought the truck. Mine has never whistled. I would spend the $90 on something else.

It's not that I think it didn't give me any benefits, I believe it does give a little better mid-range power and throttle response. I was actually hoping it would help on gas mileage when I put it on but I don't believe it did.

:) GM has a FEW years building these motors and I think most add on's are a waste of money. If GM wanted to put a spacer in there thay would or bore out the T-body more. This is just my opinon only. If you want to build Hp start with cam pistons crank heads then your intake&exhaust to let it breath. Keep your money in your pocket.
