In Truck Dashcam/DVR System - Possible to use existing cameras?

Hello,

 

I recently purchased a 2020 Silverado LT Trail Boss.  In my previous truck, I had a Dashcam on the front and back window, with an SD Card.  It was kind of an eye sore.

In this truck, I was wondering if I could use the existing rear camera and have it record to a DVR.  I also, wanted to purchase an OEM front facing camera for the truck, which i would also like to be able to see on the LCD console as well as tap into to hook to a DVR.

I was thinking of getting this DVR system, but it looks like it requires proprietary cameras which could get messy. https://www.rearviewsafety.com/safety-solutions/mobilemule-5500-5-channel-mobile-dvr-with-gps-rvs-5500.html  Does anyone know if Chevy makes something like this? 

 

Has anyone heard of Chevy Surround Vision? I read that is only available on the Cadillac ST6.  Do they make anything like this for a Chevy Silverado?

Definitely will not be possible on pre2022 refresh. I think it may be possible on the refresh with the Android system at some point but we have to hope someone is able to develop an app with the Google open source.

 

I think your dvr option may be an option but it would be pretty intensive I would think.
