Intermittently while driving and at idle the voltmeter will bounce between about 14.2V and 14.0V.  It does it to the turn signal as well, but this happens with turn signal off just driving down the road and at idle, intermittently.  Just checked the battery while it was running and my DMM is saying 13.8V and when I checked it the volt meter on the dash was solid.  Any ideas?  I check the voltage at the back of the alternator as well and it was about 13.9V.

Thanks for the help.

I don't see a problem here. A small difference between the cluster and the back of the alternator is pretty normal with GM trucks. Stepper motors in the clusters can be worn a little too.

Unless the alternator just stops working you could be tossing money at nothing.

That's my same thoughts as well, but my daughter is a little sensitive since this happened right before the fuel pump died and left her stranded in a bad place.  Thanks for your input.

I wouldn't place a whole lot of stock in to these gauges, treat them as advisors. If there is a real pressing issue either a light will come on or whatever is broken won't work.
