2004 Sierra - ABS code chase

Hello all,

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE with under 90k miles. The truck is in good condition with no rust and runs great, but it's not immune to these GM gremlins.

My airbag light came on and it threw the code B0100. I found a used sensor on eBay that was verified to work for cheap enough. I put it on the truck (driver side, sensor 1), and it did not clear the B0100 code. When I manually cleared the code with the scanner, it came back. Since I thought I could safely assume the passenger side sensor was good since it was not throwing any codes, I took the impact sensor from the passenger side and put it on the driver's side and vice versa. Now it throws both a B0101 and B0103. When I put the old driver's side sensor back in the passenger side, I still receive those codes.

I'm stumped. Since it was not throwing a code for the passenger sensor before, my assumption is that it's good, but now the driver's side is throwing the B0101 code. There is the possibility that both the old driver's side sensor and the used one I just bought are both bad, but I thought there'd be nothing showing on the driver's side at all with the passenger side sensor plugged in there.

Where should I go from here? I checked harnesses and nothing looks corroded at all. Do the sensors have to be bolted all the way in before testing?

I received no responses here, but wanted to update in case anybody else finds this thread. Moving sensors around did not help. The passenger side sensor seems to have gone bad at some point during switching it around to the other side.

 

I ended up buying 2 new impact sensors (Dorman brand due to cost) and installed them and it fixed my code. I have driven over 100 miles now with no reoccurrence of the code.

The 800 series had an issue occasionally that could be cleared up by cleaning the mating surfaces of the hub and sensor with a file or similar. After cleaning everything is making good contact again
