BrandenG1 Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 (edited) This is on my 08 Sierra (Kansas truck) it’s seen several winters. I know the correct way to address this would be to cut it out. I’d like to get rid of the truck sooner rather than later but the market just isn’t right for me. What should I do to address this? Is there any product that would go over this to cover it up for the time being? Thanks. Edited October 11, 2022 by BrandenG1
richard wysong Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 (edited) Yup that's rust ! Proper repair is to replace the rocker panel. You can try grinding the rust out and patching it but you will probably find the rest of the panel is rusted. Replacement repair panels readily available, short $ but maybe a job for the body shop unless you have the skills and tools to cut out the old 1 and weld in the new 1 Edited October 11, 2022 by richard wysong
richard wysong Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 That looks like a "plug" that they use when they inject rustproofing above it. Must have missed a spot!
richard wysong Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 Quick fix, Open up the rusty spot, get a can of hardening spray foam insulation, fill the hole ,let it dry, grind and sand it down, paint it with a rattle can 1
