When dropping off truck, GMC ran the codes right there and pulled a torque converter. Surprise surprise. Day later, need a new trans (reman) with a $5700 price tag.

Now I know the price is fair enough for a dealer. I also know the track record/law suit battle with GMC trans.

My question is more of what else can be done to help the new reman transmission I'm having put in my truck??

I've heard things about a billet kit or some sort of updated transmission bypass valve/thermostat that will help. Any truths to these thoughts??

Google sonnax zip kit. Resolves gm nightmares lol.

Seriously. I'd get that kit and have some local shop install the parts when they rebuild. Sonnax has all the rebuild parts.

The main thing is getting a billet TC and upgrade to the Sonnax kit.  As well as deleting the transmission thermostat and disabling the AFM.  Our 2016 Suburban's 6L80 went at 82K.  I did everything I could to prevent it aside from taking it out before it went.  $3,900 and the local shop here did it with all the upgrades and I had Black Bear Performance turn off the AFM.  Hoping to get a long life out of it.
