I believe the rear main seal is leaking on my '13 Silverado 5.3L. Local dealership wants 1500 to repair, but at 220k miles, should I just pull the engine and rebuild? I'm imaging the bulk of dealer cost is dropping trans, drive shafts, etc. to only replace the rear cover. Seems like if I wanted to put in some elbow grease and pull the engine myself, I could do a top to bottom rebuild for roughly the same price or not too much more.

You could also get a 6.0 out of a HD truck at a junkyard and rebuild it before you pull yours, then do a swap.

Clean it up and verify what is actually leaking before doing anything else.
