What is the best way to confirm broken motor mount? I don't have unusual vibration at freeway speeds, except for the ones induced by terrible California freeways. But what I do notice is occasional disruption felt in the steering wheel during left hand turns, like it is fighting gravity or something. Not fast turns, just standard speed. I know this is all a bit vague, but I just had a coolant leak repaired and the mechanic said I had a broken motor mount... Which seems weird at 54k miles. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Best way I know of is basically put it in drive hold the brakes and give it gas and see if the engine twists.

Thanks. I already had both motor mounts replaced. GM should do better. Although this truck is predominately city driving, you would think motor mounts wouldn't fail at 54k miles and a mere 3100 hours on the engine.

Bad mounts are common on this gen (14-19) and the 07-13 trucks.  Police Tahoes do it the most.

Like BO TIE suggested, "torque" the engine so foot on the brake, press the gas (don't hold it too long, 2-3 seconds at the most) and see if the twist is excessive.  Other way (probably best way) would be a pry bar on the mount they said is bad and see how much play there is.

I know this old thread but I just replaced the left side engine mount on my 2018 5.3 2wd and it was a pain. A quick search showed that it was probably going to cost around $600 to $900 to get it replaced. I researched how to replace it and decided to do it myself being that I'm retired and have the time and tools. What should have taken a day took me 4 days plus a couple trips to my chiropractor and some blood. Why a mount failed at 150k miles is beyond me but such is life.

Peace
