31,000miles worn pitman arm...

2019 GMC 3500HD 6.6 32,000miles

Tire shop is telling me that my new tires are wearing funny in 5,000 miles due to pitman arm and idler ware. Is it a common thing for these to go bad in 30,000 miles?

We see them often.  Typically lack of greasing the fitting on it.

 

Might want to search the HD forum section since the 1500s don't use pitman arms anymore - 2015-2019 Silverado HD & Sierra HD - GM-Trucks.com

Yes. Especially if you off-road, or have modified the suspension or larger tires, etc..  there are “upgrades” to look in to.. pick your wallet size.

 

I have to remove the plastic engine shield to access the grease zerks.  So, I purchased an extension hose.. now I just pop under and give her a grease squirt.  Remember to purge the grease hose before install.

Truck has never been off road... It's completely stock. 31,000  miles. Sits in garage. Till I need it.
