Hello

Installed the camera on my travel trailer and can not get the camera to calibrate. The transparent trailer icon is grayed out, the camera is working in the other view.  Truck is 2024 GMC Sierra 2500, yes I drove slow and straight, no progress bar anywhere.

Thank you for any help

The placement of camera and the picture look ok.  For your trailer profile setup, do you know what type of trailer you selected?  It will only do transparent on certain trailer types.

Thanks, It was set up a conventional hitch, and for type it was set as travel.
Picture with measurements, sorry I don't know why the picture uploads upside down

I would change one of the dimensions by 1 cm and this would force a new calibration and see if it goes.   When you hook up the trailer Camera, I would do it with the truck shutoff and gone asleep (onstar green light will go out).

I hope this works.  I don't see anything wrong with what you are doing.

Thanks. I did try that no luck. Even tried a new camera. Still no progress bar. Blue hourglass on the screen when viewing the camera. And sometimes it goes black after bumps. Back to the dealer again next week.

Which camera did you purchase? I contacted GM shortly after buying our '24 (probably May) and nobody could tell me which one to get. The one on GM's site still shows that it's not compatible with the '24 HDs.

Thanks. Apparently not for 5th wheels or trailers over 32', bummer.

The 2024s work with fifth wheels and goosenecks.  The pre 2024 does not have transparent view available on gooseneck and fifth wheel.  Other views will work.  Trailer length is not limited on the 2024s.

Do you have a source of info different from the below? Don't know why they make it so hard to find proper information on this stuff.

  • Designed and Engineered by Chevrolet
  • Genuine Chevrolet Accessories provide Factory Fit, Finish and Function
  • Trailer Camera for models with factory option TRG, Trailer Camera Provisions and trailer viewing software
  • Adds an additional view from the rear of the trailer to help make the Trailer virtually Invisible
  • Can also be mounted inside the trailer and connected to the left-side of the trailer plug receptacle
  • Includes trailer camera assembly (with harness of approx. 60 ft from camera to plug connector), mounting hardware and installation instructions
  • REQUIRES Factory option code TRG, Trailer Camera Provisions and trailer viewing software
  • REQUIRES 2024 Model
  • EXCLUDES 2023 and prior model years
  • Compatible Trailers: Conventional hitch type, Box- or camping-style trailer, No more than 32 feet in length
  • If you select an incompatible trailer type (e.g., a fifth-wheel hitch or flat trailer), you can’t continue setup
  • Pulling camera cable to remove connection will result in damage not covered by warranty. Use the finger tabs on cable connection plug for proper removal
  • Two Trailer Camera Receptacle shown in the images are for reference as a required Factory Option and NOT included in this package

The accessory camera does determine if can be used for transparent or not.  The video processing module, trailer profile selection, and mounting location determine if transparent is available.

The 2024 trucks can have transparent trailer available with GN, 5W, and conventional trailers.  Before 2024, transparent is only available on conventional trailers.

Does this get displayed on the rear view mirror or the center stack (or both)?

Try reducing to reducing the measurement of overall height to metric equalivent of 118 inches or less.  If the transparent tile is grayed out, it will never calibrate.  Update the height and then look at camera app and see if you can select the transparent view.  If so, then try to calibrate.

    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE. • Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?
    • Two interesting tidbits of information which are NOT related were just released.   One, regarding the possible thrust bearing issues / engine failures with the 3.0. Demonworks just did a segment in which they believe they may have found "a" or "the" cause of thrust bearing failures: A missing thrust bearing. If the engine doesn't have all its thrust bearings from the factory, the missing bearing can cause extra play which ends up destroying a nearby thrust bearing which then sends metal through the engine.       Of other importance, Lake Speed Jr released some interest information regarding oil weight selection for the 3.0. Comparisons of:   AcDelco 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w30 Mobil 1 ESP x4 0w40. Mobil Delvac 5w40   Spoiler alert: The Mobils are PAO Ester -base and the ACDelco is a Group III base. Mobil shows lower wear in their tests for similar weights. Additive packages between 20-30-40 weight ESP's appear to be the same, but only 0w20 is Dexos D licensed. Wear is even more reduced with 30 and 40 weight ESP although all perform very well and resist shear and provide very similar viscosities within temperature operating ranges in the 3.0.   There are even more surprises, so just go watch it.
    • Hello Guys I'm new to the form,         I just put a 7-inch Rough Country lift on my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3 and I also put a Borla exhaust on it. But I noticed when I'm in park or in neutral and then I rev my truck up really quick there is a bad click noise and I think it's coming from the motor somewhere. Anyways I got a video of it I will attach below I was just wondering if you guys think its rod knock or lifter tick or something like that because I know the AFM kind of made the lifters weak on these trucks.       Thanks!!!!!
