Headlight momentary off

I have a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 4x4 which was originally supplied as a new vehicle into Canada. Unlike the USA release models the Canadian versions do not have the ability to turn off the headlights once they have come on automatically with the light sensor.

Does anyone know if this feature is programmable through the dealers and if so which menu the activation/deactivation option is under?

My headlamp switch is spring loaded into the auto position just like the USA ones only that holding the switch against the spring in the "OFF" position doesn't turn the lights off.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I don't know if the dealer can program it. If the switch is spring loaded your probably missing the switch contacts in side. Most all the vehicles have the wiring for everything from the factory, they just add the accessory on. Any way, look around for a new switch, it may be all you need.

I think someone found out a while back that it is a programming issue in the BCM and not only the switch. Have heard of a handful of Canandian owners who would like the option to shut the lights off.

Someone just a week ago said they jumpered the light sensor on the dash of their truck to disable the auto headlights. This is fine if you don't have auto climate control, otherwise this will change the climate control feature to cool and heat correctly.

dont know about the 2003, but on the 2001, if ya hit the

button (cant remember what its labeled, I think dome light)

underneath the light switch four (4) times, it will

turn it off / on.

But you guys probably already know this.
