'23 Sierra SLT Electronic shifter problem

I just bought a new 2023 Sierra SLT with the electronic shifter. Seems I have a problem when shifting into reverse to back out of the garage that sometimes when I let go of the shifter, it goes into Netrual and not stay in Reverse. Am I doing it wrong or is there a problem?

My first guess would be started moving shifter before button was depressed enough.

You might be right. Normally I press the brake to start the engine, keeping my foot on the brake then select R, if I let go of the shifter, it falls back to N. Yesterday after starting, I took my foot off the brake, put it back on, then pushed the button, then selected R, took my hand off and it stayed in  R. I'll have to try this again to see if that's my problem.

On a second note, the Google map only shows what I have saved in my favorites from my account and gas stations. I've tried selecting others like restaurants and saving it, but it seems not to stay after shut down. I'm looking for points of interest when traveling.

Just bought a 2023 GMC Sierra slt with the console. This shifter is the absolute dumbest idea ever. You push the shifter forward to go into reverse and vice versa. What imbecile at GM thought this up. Very counter intuitive. I may dump this turd and get a Ford for the first time ever. I guess GM has gone woke and is in transition.

I like my shifter which is the same one as yours. I’m not sure I understand the woke part because of the shifter. Not to be argumentative , but I hate the woke ****** too

I have a new 25 silverado 1500 with 1200 miles and it has a console shifter that does the same thing. You start the truck , mash the brake , push the shifter forward to engage reverse and as soon as you let go of the shifter , it pops into neutral.

I have had to push the shifter forward and hold it there to keep "reverse" engaged . It may take several attempts to get the shifter to stay in reverse . And yes , I push the button on the shifter to engage to gear selector . This is very annoying, and I would be upset if it was my personal truck not my company truck.

Hold the button in while pushing forward into reverse. It will stay in reverse then.

      Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.

      14-18 Sierra 1500 Heated Steering Wheel Help

      Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!

      I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.

      Checked the pads today and there's plenty of meat on them. If the message keeps coming up, I'll just answer YES that the pads were replaced and wait for the squeal.
