HMI vs Control Panel for "ghost button pressing"? 2015 Tahoe

Long story short, my 2015 Tahoe will randomly beep as if someone is pressing the center console screen, but nothing on the screen usually changes, although the small screen on the instrument cluster will change from the speedometer to the bluetooth page, and never a different page... dealer claimed it was a faulty digitizer and wanted $1,500 + 5hrs labor.

 

I've replaced the digitizer no problem, but the problem persists. My only remaining guesses are the HMI or the Control Panel?

 

For what its worth, all buttons on the steering wheel and on the center console work fine.

 

1) Is there a way to troubleshoot HMI vs Control Panel? I'd like to avoid replacing both if possible.

2) if it's the HMI I'm assuming I will have to get it programmed to my vin... any ideas how to do that?

HMI especially if its changing things in the cluster.  Ghost touches are majority HMI or touchscreen failure.

Thanks for the insight NewDude. I found a few used ones at car-parts.com so all i need to do now is find a way to have them programmed to my VIN. do you think most local shops could reprogram the VIN?

Dealer or a shop that has access to GM Service Programming which there are out there.
