I have a 2022 Silverado 2500 High Country with wireless Apple CarPlay. I use an iPhone 15 pro max. It has worked flawlessly until I updated my phone to iOS 17.1. Now the wireless charging stopped working. It will initially start charging but with 5 to 10 seconds it stops. My iPhone charges on other wireless chargers fine. My wife’s iPhone 14 Pro Max works fine on my trucks charging pad, but her iPhone has not been updated to 17.1 yet. I have spent several hours troubleshooting with Apple support as well as with GM Connect support. They have opened a ticket. I have tried the following steps:

1. Hard reset iphone

2. checked for infotainment software update.

3. Removed iPhone case.

4. Deleted my truck from CarPlay and deleted my iPhone from the infotainment in my truck.
5. re-paired my iPhone with my truck and reactivated CarPlay.

None of the above steps fixed the wireless charging issue. Everything seems to point to some sort of compatibility issue between my truck’s charging pad and iOS 17.1.

UPDATE: IOS 17.2 fixed this issue.

I don't have wireless charging in my truck but my GF has it in her 2023 Acadia Denali. We both updated our iPhones (13 Pro and 13 Pro Max) to 17.1 and they charge in her car.

I have the opposite on my truck/ phone combo. I was getting aggravated because my phone wasn’t charging reliably, but now it seems to be way better.

I have the exact same problem with my 2017 Chevy Suburban Premier.  It is precisely 10 seconds from when it connects to when it stops charging.  I’ve tested the pattern several times and it is consistent, clearly being controlled by the phone handshake with the wireless charger.  To rule out any influence by the phone case, I tested with and without a case, no change, connects then fails.  I also tried the phone forward pointing and backward pointing on the pad to see if the direction of the phone mattered; no change.   I then tested with my Son's iPhone 15 Pro (identical to mine, except still running iOS 17.0.3).  It works perfectly, just as mine did yesterday morning before the upgrade to iOS 17.1 in the afternoon.  I also checked my Wife's iPhone 12 running iOS 16 and that too works fine.  Finally, I tested my AirPods, they charge fine on the pad so I am confident there is nothing wrong with the center console charging pad in my Suburban.

This is clearly points to a new bug / failure introduced by the release of iOS 17.1 as Apple is attempt to fix the BMW / Toyota Supra catastrophic NFC failure issue.  I opened a case with Apple tonight and the tech support individual acknowledged they are still working the charging issue in iOS and our issues with the GM charger is likely related; an unintended new issue created as they tried to fix the other issue.  In case you need it, the wireless module in my vehicle (which is the upgraded module) and likely the one in your 2020 is LG part #WC900A05, which is a Gen II Qi certified wireless charging module.  I guess for now, we need to be patient for the next iOS revision.  The Apple tech confirmed they are working on it already.

    • I understand that. The price is what it is, though. The price is what oil costs today, where our choices have led us, where supply is, and where demand is, in the market that is. Speculation is for futures, what we think the price will be, but with incomplete information at the time the price is forecast. I know you know this, but you appear to be intent on making a secondary point here about what you think the market could or should be, if only other choices.   In 1975 it became illegal to export US Crude. I'm conflicted on what the best answer is. Free markets allow export in pursuit of profit. But there is also a lot to gain by producing and consuming our own oil here. How do you reconcile it?
    • That sir is a choice. And even if it were not for all the reasons stated, this disruption has zero to do with the reality of the actual logistics and everything to do with the greed of SPECULATION. Spot price is irrelevant to reality.
    • What I think you're saying is there is supply here at home, and in Venezuela, and we could ease pricing if only it were favorable to do so.   Well, yes?   But that's not the current market. Supply isn't what could someday exist, if only, it's what producers are willing to produce and sell at a certain price point.   The national price of single family homes would come way down if we'd just slap together a few million homes this summer.   RAM and GPUs would get a lot cheaper if we just set up some factories to produce a bunch more and stopped using it to build out AI data centers.
