Performance upgrades... how does this combo sound?

The truck is a 2003 2500HD 4x4 CC D/A.

I'm thinking about adding the following:

Edge Juice with Attitude controller

AFE Magnum Force intake

Magnaflow replacement muffler (4" SS)

Does that seem like a decent combo?

I was considering the Wester PCM swap for the additional tranny changes, but really like the flexibility of the Attitude controller. Is there a benefit to running both or is that even possible... like a Wester with tranny updates only?

Any opinions on replacing the muffler vs an entire catback? With a 3.5 system already it doesn't seem necessary to swap up, but perhaps I'm wrong.

Define "decent". Do you mean the ability to smoke the tires, beat ricers off the line and make the rest of us jealous? If that's what you mean by decent then yea, that should do the trick.

The Westers is what I have (mines a gas engine though). It works real good, but I don't think you can stack with that, even on the diesel.

If you're gonna do the exhaust you might as well do the full cat-back setup. It really wouldn't cost all the much more $$, and it would ensure that the parts were all designed to work together.

Looks like a good plan.

I wouldn't mess with the Wester's personally. Go with the Attitude and it'll back off at the shifts to save on your tranny. Plus, if you need to head to the dealer it can be pulled out in minutes to leave no trace of a performance module.

Right now I'm running a Quad Stealth 110HP version. Really zips up the truck. I went that route so that I could re-cal the speedo for my larger than stock tires. Looking at an Edge Attitude now.

The AFE won't give you a big HP gain. Definitely will allow more air and I've heard the turbo sounds great with the Stage 2 kit (cold air box and intake tube). Dyno won't allow proper loading to verify any gains. People have dyno'd with and without it and showed no gains because of this.

LOL. Yeah I guess that would qualify as decent. ;)

Well thanks for the advice.

I didn't really think you could stack the Edge and Wester, but it seemed like an interesting option. I wouldn't want their power program though obviously.

Firetiger: The removeability of the Edge system is one of the main reasons I'm considering it... along with the adjustability of course. I've been burned too many times by dealerships trying to get out of their warranty obligations. Hell Pontiac called my '02 Trans Am a race car simply because it was loping from a "mild" cam... lol.. I wasn't even coming in for warranty work! Bastards.

I'm definitely not concerned with dyno gains so much as street performance. Most intakes don't do much for HP increases anyway... just allow more available air for whatever other mods you have in place.

The Westers program has no damaging affect on the tranny. The shifts are fast and crisp, but not abusive to the components.

Dealer will not be able to tell it's been installed; there is no method of diagnostics that will alert them to a modified PCM (unless they plant their right foot, of course ).

Hi –

You can't beat Juice when it comes to the DMAX. You can also stack a Quad or a Predator with it to get even higher HP- but really, anything over 130HP and you'll limp the Allison.

If you're worried about being busted by your dealer - the Juice module cannot be detected once you remove it, but the Juice Attitude has a monitor that can be detected by someone who knows what to look for.

Also, if you opt for just a handheld programmer, go for the Quad. The current Predator version SUCKS. Anything over 40HP on the Predator and you’ll experience the “surge.”

Hope that helps.

I wouldn't take the chance. What engine/tranny combo do you have in your truck?

Can't beat the ability to adjust settings on the fly plus all the other features that comes with the Attitude. I think it's the best bang for the buck right now for the every day Joe. Hopefully I can get my hands on one soon.
