I cannot immediately feel any difference in ride or handling other than I think the Michelins are smoother and quieter than the old Bridgestones.  But that might be my mind trying to justify the $.

Definitely no negative difference.  There is no clearance issues at all.  The 305 is 1.18" wider.

I am very pleased with the change.    Added a couple more pictures above.

Glad you started this thread and perfect timing.  I was thinking the same thing for my 2023 Ultimate.  My tire of choice is the Michelin Defender LTX m/s.  That comes standard on many Denalis.  However mine came with Bridgestone Alenza as 02's   They are good tires and no complaints and they only had 19,000 miles   But I was thinking about something wider and the Defender LTX  comes in the 305/45-22.  In side by side reviews, the Defender LTX wins over the Bridgestone in all areas.  It's a great touring tire with good mud/snow capabilities.     A bit pricy at $342.00 each.

Discount tire matched NTB price of $315 each.  Minus $80.00 online ordering.  Minus $80 for having a Discount tire credit card.  And they removed the disposal fee and took my used tires in on trade allowing my $45.00 each for my Bridgestones.  Sure I could have probably sold them myself for more didn't want the hassle.

The new 305/45-22 Michelins fit perfect and look much better.  Agree it' the size GM should use from the factory.  Here's a few pictures with before and after.

Thanks for sharing this info and photos @typhoon186. Truck looks great. Looks like the 305/45's sidewall protect the rim much better as well. Tread pattern is very similar to the Bridgestone but with extra siping for wet/snow conditions - which is a must for us in Canada. Great choice!

Curious if anyone knows why the 305/45r22 is not a recommended size on a 22x9 rim?

I don't see where it is not recommended.  The Michelin gives a minimum wheel width of 9 inches

You’re correct, Michelin does include it as an option. Others do not even though they do have the 305/45/22 size.

some tire dimensions differ even though the numbers are the same.  But I think since it's not a factory options size, some just list it as " does not fit".  It fits perfectly.

Was wondering the same for my Denali Ultimate with the 22s.  The Hankooks Dynapros at2’s seems to be a good choice.

Yes, if you can find them - no tire shops where i live carry them or could give me a date to get them. I found some toyo's and ordered yesterday - they have a better winter rating than the Michelin's which is important for us in Alberta. You probably don't need to worry too much about that in Texas!

Update:   Sorry to say, after 5 months I am changing out the 305/45/22 Michelin defender ltx m/s tires.  After lots of data collection I determined they dropped my mpg by 4-5 mpg at 70 mph steady cruise.

I went back to the stock size 275/50/22 Michelin defender ltx m/s 2.  The p275 version and not the LT275 version.

discount tire recommended the P ( passenger car) version for the 1500 and the LT (light truck) for 2500 and above

I will do more data collection on these tires and report back I a couple weeks

One other thing I have to keep in mind is my original Bridgestone tires had a less aggressive tread  (AS vs. M/S) and were about half worn down.  Both of the factors reduce rolling resistance.   Installing new tires identical to worn out tires will have higher rolling resistance and reduced mpg.    So I don't expect my new tires to have as good of fuel economy as the one's I replaced.

That's a massive amount of change. Did you adjust for the diameter difference in your calculations. You were actually traveling further than you odometer was showing.

Sorry my bad.  I listed the incorrect ratio size.   revised above:

The actual sizes were very close in diameter.  And checked speedometer against gps with both sizes and both held accurate speed per the gps.

Are you sure about that 4-5 mpg? I put on 305/45R22 Hankook Dynapro AT2 Extremes and only lost 1-2 mpg over 20,000mls since I had them, and they are much more aggressive than the Michelins.

Edit: You have a 6.2 and I have a 5.3. Not apples to apples.
