so about 2 months ago my truck got repo and 5 days later i went and got it back. 3 days later and it wont start,switch the battery and nothing. it use to turn on with a jump but after 2 days it would not start w a jump. took it to a mechanic and they changed the following ( fuel pump. starter , fuel injector? and im not really sure what else bc my dad is keeping up w the mechanics but anywho they believe its an electrical problem. not a car specialist but they said they would pour gas down something and it would start but after you turn it off it doesn’t start. i don’t know what it could be or what not 😕 any help? or advice?

Sounds like a combination of dead battery and fuel delivery. Make sure the battery replacement or repossession hasn't interfered with the trucks theft deterrent system.

 

Also, might have an aftermarket 'device' somewhere on it causing problems too. (I've been surprised how many questionable devices I've found on different peoples cars... behind panels. Most were probably a tracking device that just had a positive and negative wire, but I would'nt doubt some have greater capabilities.)

well we change the battery and alternator those were the first things we did and nothing but it wasn’t the first time i changed the battery i had already changed the battery and it worked perfectly without any problems

Look up under the dash and disconnect the aftermarket GPS locator from the ODB2 port. Then put it in the glove box. The dealership you got the truck from likely disabled your truck.

If the battery will crank the engine so that it can start by "pouring gas down something" then it isn't the battery. 

 

If it is only running until the gas that was poured down it is gone that means there is something preventing fuel delivery and I would suspect an immobilizer has been added. If it runs continuously after priming it by "pouring gas down something" then fuel pressure needs to be monitored. 

 

Which fuel pump was replaced? There are two, one in the fuel tank, a lower pressure pump and another on the engine, a high pressure pump. The low pressure pump may be disabled or defective and cannot prime the high pressure pump.

according to my dad both were replaced the one in the fuel tank ( under the bed ) and the one by the engine block? and they said still nothing they had already switched both of them couple weeks ago

yes it still continues to run and drive after the gas is pour down “something” (i don’t what its called 😕 ) but after you turn it off , it wont crank at all

He also said there isn’t enough fuel pressure some where and they can’t find the reason why? This $*** is complicated lol

I think you are confusing some terms or symptoms (no offense intended). It HAS to be cranking at some point for pouring gas in the intake to work.

 

If I am understanding this correct:

Walk up to the truck, pour gas in the intake, turn ignition key and the truck starts and runs fine.

 

Turn off the truck with the key and then try to restart it again and nothing happens...

When you walk up to the truck and turn it on the low pressure pump should build pressure to about 60 psi. (Unless it has been disabled by a device)

 

The high pressure pump builds pressure over 500 psi.

Yes that’s exactly what it’s doing. You pour it down and it starts. Then you turn it off , try to turn it on and it cranks but nothing

But it IS cranking, that rules out battery.

I would make sure the low pressure pump is getting power when it is supposed to, a simple test light on it should confirm it is getting power.

 according to apple translate lol it translates to this “The injectors don't get enough energy.”

If the injectors aren't firing then it wouldn't continue to run after dumping fuel in the intake.

In either case the only reason the injectors wouldn't be working is if they are disabled.

 

Check all fuses for good measure but you are still probably looking for an immobilizer.

    • Question @diyer2 on this line if you please. Are you saying the shudder is the system turning on and off at the frequency of the shudder? Guess I'm asking if you are saying you have seen it do this with the bi-direction scan tool in graph mode? If so have you been able to discern the 'trigger'. Something is telling to cycle rapidly.    My truck just started doing this recently. 197K on the clock. My response has been M5 anything under 55 mph. I treat it like a lugging stick shift. Gear down and let it spin a bit. Engauge M5, then tow mode and then M6 lets the trans stay in 5th but the AFM is active. Smooth like Skippy.    My thought was that as a machine ages the friction gets lower and as the system is load based, the lower friction would allow it to turn on at ever lower rpm until it reaches the lugging point. And yes I am ignorant of any minimum rpm requirement for the system. If you know that would be useful information.    As you know I run a Scan-Gauge II which allows me to watch the On/Off of the signal to the VLOM. While in the shudder mode I'm not seeing is cycle at that frequency or at all for that matter outside the triggers @newdude posted a few years back. Now is it possible that the refresh rate isn't fast enough to catch it? Maybe. It is why I asked my first question about graphing and trigging parameter.     As we have observed from members here the failure point is all over the map miles wise as you note yourself in your opening post. That by itself begs a few questions like fellows that comment on these lifters failing even after the system has been disabled.     • UPDATE 2: Steering wheel control backlights and control of the cluster can supposedly be achieved by adding a wire to pin 20 of the cluster and tapping it to pin 2 of the main clock spring harness. I'm going to give it a shot - will update  
    • GM Global A pickups 2019-2022 can do OTA programming for the radio.  GM VIP (GM Global B) can do OTAs for almost every module on board.  So a 2022.5 and newer pickup can do OTAs for recalls like the 2.7 fuel flow recall.  EVs get OTAs that improve one pedal driving, radio issues, HVAC issues, updated battery management software, etc.     So age of the vehicle/what GM electrical platform its on will alter what amount of updates can be pushed on OTAs.  
    • Thank You.   So far my new ride is making me look like a genius for going with the 3.0L, as my first fuel refill occurred over three weeks from when I took delivery.  This engine combination is very amazing.  So far no issues and had not done a regen yet.
    • I am curious as to how much fluid you put back in the transmission ( assuming you had replaced the filter to compare to my findings ) and then went through the process of warming up the trans before pulling the check plug to drain out the excess and if you measured how much came back out.    I just found it surprising that some claimed a certain amount less fluid being put in and then draining some back out. The attitude of the truck as per if the surface is level and how the trucks stance is would make quite a difference since the check plug is right at the front of the transmission.
