oncewas Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 I just purchased my first Sierra since 2012 and I use a front camera ever since some girl ran a red light and totaled my Rubicon at the time. I also sometimes use a radar detector and plan to use a USB Memory stick for music once my free SiriusXM is over. So I was wondering if anyone else has used a USB hub and if they work okay to power accessories? Thanks in advance. Rex

Rex I run the cameras in our trucks off the OBD2 port, you could also hard wire the camera
oncewas Posted April 11, 2024 Author Posted April 11, 2024 I’m sorry you are way over my head. I don’t know where or what the OBD2 port is. But I’ll look into it. When I bought the camera it did come with a hardwire kit but that was years ago. I’m sure I could buy another but it isn’t something I’d happily get into.
PFTX_5.3 Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 Your OBD2 is under the dash above the parking brake pedal. This runs from the OBD2 directly to your camera, very straight forward once you find your OBD2, just make sure you get a cord that fits into the end of your camera.
oncewas Posted April 12, 2024 Author Posted April 12, 2024 Okay I am familiar with the OBD2. And I am following what you are saying. Thanks I’ll see about ordering a hardwire kit from Rexing. 1

Have you had any issues with OBD2 adapter as far as draining battery or randomly shutting off as several of the reviewers have mentioned

The camera does shut off after about 24hrs but comes back on as soon as I start the truck.
