I have a 2005 silverado 4wd. I have a clunking noise kind of like a chain sound coming from my front driver side & have no clue what it could be.. my wheel hubs dont have any play, recently changed my cv axles, but tie rod ends & upper ball joint on driver side do have some play… sway bar end links have no play also. Beat around on everything. No noise, only when rolling.  i dont wanna waste money on parts and it not be the problem. It only happens at low speeds & stops around 20-25mph. Noise isnt very consistent, kind of comes and goes. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Going to post a video of the sound also. Never heard a ball joint or tie rod end make this noise before so thats why im kinda ruling those out even tho they need fixed.

Backing plate rubbing? A bad BJ can make a creaking noise. Front diff not fully disengaged maybe?

I don’t have a backing plate on mine. I also took out the front driveshaft thinking the ujoint might have been the issue, but no luck. It’s in 2wd, how do you fully disengage it? The driveshaft spun freely before I took it out, so I’m pretty sure it’s disengaged… could be wrong tho.

Yeah if you can spin it by hand it should be disengaged I'd say

How long is the truck and have you checked the rear driveshaft/ u joints or if you have a 2 piece shaft with a carrier bearing could be that too.
