I'm in the market for a new truck. Looking  at a 2024 crew cab LT 4x4 with a 5.3. How is the 5.3 reliability? And over all  reliability of truck, over all? Read alot about them ,but would rather hear from people that actually have them. Just a little nervous about getting a new one. I have a 2015 GMC' serra 1500 double cab with a 5.3. It has been a fantastic truck, hardly any issues and I'm at a 128,000 miles.

More are good than bad considering how many are made. As you get newer and newer, more electronics and connectivity will be built into the vehicle. This to me just means if you wan to fix something you will have to take it to the dealership because they will have to update and program the fix.  Volvo from what I understand now requires you to program the vehicle for a simple battery change. If your truck is working well for you, then I would keep it.

my son still drives my 2014 and it is nearing 190k miles and all original power train. while the new trucks are nice, they do have a lot more electronics to screw up. i would wait if you can because the market is showing the price of these trucks will come down
