Bad Battery or Electrical Issue? <18 months old

I'm baffled by this. My silverado is not even 18 months old. I go to start it yesterday and it tries to turn over and can't. I put my jumper on it, drive it around and all seems fine. Today I go to start it and it's dead. Like dead dead. When I put my jumper on it I can't get enough juice and I'm getting all sorts of weird alerts.

Is it really possible my battery died that quick? Like wtf, nothing odd has happened, we just came back from a long roadtrip, but that's it. I don't see anywhere where my lights or something is being left on and draining the battery either.

The kicker is that I can't drive my car because my truck is blocking it and I can't move the f'n electronic shifter into neutral.

Yes, batteries can go bad in 18 months especially in the summer heat.

Look in your owners manual regarding moving the shifter

Your Silverado's battery issue could be due to a faulty battery, parasitic drain, or alternator problem. Check the battery voltage and consider having a mechanic test for parasitic drain. For the electronic shifter, check your manual for an override to move it into neutral. If the battery checks out, have the electrical system inspected for other issues.

Wow, that sucks big time. A battery dying that quick on a new Silverado is weird but can happen, maybe a bad cell or some hidden drain. All those alerts and jumper not working sounds like the battery’s dead or connections loose. Check terminals, maybe do a load test. For the shifter, you might need the manual override to get it in neutral. Honestly, probably the battery, but I’d get the dealer to check too since it’s still under warranty.
