Seat Belt Question

Hello all,

I have a 2001 silverado lt with leather seats and my seat belt squeaks where the spool is, eveytime that I move it. Its rather annoying since everytime you move up or down is squeaks. Is this something that I can fix my self? I think it just needs to be wd-40'd or oiled but how do I get to it?

Thanks

My 2000 did this until one day I pulled the little cover off the top of the seat belt and carefully sprayed the retractor with WD 40 in each corner. ( I didnt want to drench it in WD 40 and smell like everytime I got out of the truck). It worked great! The cover takes a good wack to get it to stick back into place.

Hopes this helps....

Same issue here when you rock forward and back in the seat. The dealer squared it away the last time, but I may have to give it a look. Any trick to getting that cover off?- Cloth buckets?

Is there a special trick to get that little cover off?

do you just stick your fingers or something under there and pull?

I used the smallest screwdriver I had and got it off that way. Those things are on there! To keep from spraying the whole inside of the seat, I used the little straw that came with the can a was touching the sides of the retractor before I sprayed it.
