I have owned about 4 or 5 Access covers over the years and they have held up great.   Just got a new one today and installed.

Instructions talk about loosening the clamps and raising rails if the tailgate does not open/close properly.  Not thrilled to do that as I think flush looks best but I did it anyway.  I took one shot at it and its better but not perfect yet.

My complaint is its just tight in  the center and by time you get it high enough to clear in middle the sides have a gap.   I have a request in to real-truck but unlikely I will get a response of any value. I am not beyond removing the extruded aluminum piece of needed and tweaking it so there is a slight arch in middle.

Anyone had this issue?

I had the access vanish cover on my last truck and that was a good cover no issues with closing. And it was lower profile than the one you’re showing. Maybe get that one?

I now have the truxedo pro x15 I ordered it because it is ultra low profile and the material it’s made out of is very nice, like a convertible top but it requires me to quickly unlatch it to shut tailgate and push back down. At first I didn’t like that but it take 1sec used to it now

Just got this from Real Truck.

This inclined install is required due to the tailgate being automatic and having sensors. If you would like, we can discuss the option of a return on this cover and either getting something else or a refund. We apologize but this is the best options available.

So your last truck have power up/down?  That is issue for me.

Oh sorry, no it wasn’t power. Looked right past that part.

Well RealTruck was good about it and is letting me return it. Unfortunately, I am sending almost double to get a BAK X4s.  They guarantee my tailgate will power up and down without issues.

As it turns out the Access cover might have worked fine.  Installed the BAK and it has the same issue.  It appears the plastic cap on top of tailgate has been improperly installed. If your remove the inside panel on the tailgate you can see the top cap has lip that drops down inside of tailgate with 2 sided tape.  There is a crown in the middle where they did not push the center down far enough. Its well adhered with tape.

I am going to call the dealer body Monday and see if I can get them to fix it.
