Truck started with the fob very far away.

It's winter in MI and I started my truck to warm it up for my wife to make a Dr. appointment run.  I had my fob in my pocket and told DW to take her fob after the truck warmed up and go.  I continued shoveling the snow with my fob in my pocket and the truck running.  DW got in the truck and thought that I had remote started it with my fob (I didn't - I got in it and started it.) so when she got in, she pushed the start button which turned the truck off.  Then she hit the start again and the truck started.  The problem is that she had the wrong fob in her purse.  She had the fob for our XT5, her normal vehicle.  She got to her destination and realized she couldn't get the truck to lock or restart.  I had to bring her the correct fob.  What I don't understand is how the truck restarted without her having the correct fob.  My fob was in my pocket a good 20 feet away from the truck (still shoveling) and the other truck fob was in the house in a pouch that is a faraday bag.  Maybe because the truck was only off for a second or so until she restarted it?  Makes no sense.  Any ideas on how the truck could have restarted?

They are designed to allow one restart without the key so you can get back.

Seriously?  I would have never thought of that.  Seems like a security issue but I can see how useful it would have been had DW just jumped in the truck with the wrong key to have had one chance to get home.  Thankfully, she was only less than 10 minutes away.
