2024 Silverado ZR2 no Cruise control or FWD collision warning. Had computer reprogram still not working.

Does your regular cruise work?  I assume the adaptive cruise is down.

Press and hold the cruise cancel button on the wheel to switch back to regular cruise and see if the regular cruise works.

If so, your forward view camera is acting up.  Any ice or fog on the top center of the windshield?

You can reset the camera.  Fuse F11 in the passenger dash fuse box.  Truck off, pull that fuse for 15 minutes and then plug it back in and see if everything starts working again.  If it's still down, probably needs the camera replaced.

Is there also a lidar in the grill that is used by adaptive cruise and by forward collision alert?

No.  Just the forward camera is used.

Lidar is for SuperCruise which is not available on ZR2.

Hmmm.

So now I'm curious how a camera knows how far away the vehicle ahead is?

Can't be width or height, because of course vehicles aren't all the same size.

I was under the impression the lidar (or maybe radar? or ultrasonic?) gave distance and the camera determined if the vehicle detected was in the same lane.
