Setting ABS Module with new tire size

I just saw the Jan 2004 Techline, there's a bit in there about GM's 20in wheels. Besides the ECM to program for the speedometer and engine, the ABS Module needs to be programmed from a TECH2 with the new tire size as well.

I have just a 1" increase in height going from 265/70-16 to 285/60-17, but the brakes seem to be acting "different" and when tested in an empty parking lot the ABS took longer to engage.

I sure none of the handhelds are programming the ABS as well. And certainly not the Westers or Nelson and others that just do the ECM.

Has anyone had gone to the dealer and had the ABS module programmed for the new tire height? Was there any difference?

I've been running 285/75/16 since October and have not noticed any difference in the brakes. The ABS kicks in when it is supposed to. BTW - I had a new ABS module installed last July due to the old one biting the dust.

I know that Superlift's Truspeed can adjust your speedo and ABS to the size tire you are running. I have it on my truck. My ABS would kick in around 5-10 mph when slowing down. Since adding this to my truck I haven't had any trouble. It connects into the trans and "tricks" the computer into thinking you have original size tires. You can adjust it to whatever size you have. I'll be getting my 35's this weekend, so I'll have to do some adjustments myself. Chris
