I've heard of the oil consumption issue with these motors and I check my oil regularly, currently at half way up the cross hatches after checking overnight with a cold engine at 85% left on the oil change, which seems normal to me. Also here is a pic of the underside of my engine, seems like some weeping oil, but I am no expert, what do you guys think? It's looked like that since I bought it.

It’s leaking from that aftermarket drain. You can see a drop of oil hanging from that little strap. Ditch that and go back to a bolt would be my recommendation.

I consider down half a quart with 85% left on oil change a problem unless you're towing heavy. I check my oil frequently. I get my oil changes at the dealer and check the oil before and after the oil change. I got my last oil change at 18,963 miles and it was down 1/4 on the dipstick and was the first time it was not full before an oil change at 5300 miles interval. Oil level is full a week after the oil change.

Not down half a quart, just showing half way down the dip stick on the cross hatches, still in the green zone and I think that is where it normally is when you change the oil.

Doing a test on that, it's the ValvoMax Oil Drain Valve, I don't think it's leaking, I think it's just a drop or 2 of oil from the last oil change running down. But I will keep an eye on it.

Wipe it all clean and keep an eye on it. Then you will know for sure. I’d guess it’s leaking.

Will do, does everything else around there look normal? I am still under power train warranty so any other leaks I want to get taken of care asap.

It’s hard to tell. Is all that light brown color wet oil? If so there is a leak. Take a rag with warm soapy water and thoroughly clean that whole area so you can easily monitor for issues.

I went out and checked it out, no clear signs of fresh oil leaking above the drain plug, it's all old oil, probably from when a tech doing the oil change wiped it down with a oil soaked rag or being messy with the filter. No fresh oil there.

However you were right, the ValvoMax is leaking at the threads, not dripping but definitely seeping fresh oil. I reached out to them and will probably just change back to a regular bolt now.

My dipstick only has a cross hatched section, no green area. My manual says to add a quart of oil if the level gets below the cross hatched area.

I had a 2014 GMC 1500 that burned more than a quart between oil changes. One day the oil low light came on and had to add 2 quarts of oil. I got rid of that truck before 5 years. Will do the same with my 2500 AT4HD if I can't go 5000 miles without adding oil.

That was a figure of speech...

Do you have a YouTube channel with the same name as your screen name on here?

Valvomax, leak? I have these on five units and two on the few that can. None leak. Spring loaded ball check. Nothing to leak. Only place it could leak is the same place a drain plug could leak. The base washer. Even the cap is sealed, "O" ring, same as your oil filter. And oil doesn't blow forward. But yes, a good cleaning, and watch or even use a dye to find the source.

Yes

Your recent video on high capacity Makita LXT packs has me interested. I had no idea they went beyond 6ah packs. I have a bunch of tools on that platform. I love them. Even my original 3ah packs that are easily 10 years old still work great.
