2016 Silverado Mylink no OTA option No Android Auto

Hello all, 

I recently purchased a Chevy Silverado 2016, the infotainment center seems to need a software update.  Does anyone have the update files handy that I can put on a USB and update the system.  I do not have options for OTA updates or wifi connections.

I may be wrong but I lost MyLink after my OnStar subscription rand out. I think you have to subscribe to OnStar to get it back. Correct me if I'm wrong

I believe the entertainment system is called MyLink and does function without an OnStar subscription. The 2016 never had OTA update capabilities. And as far as I am aware, there was only 1 update available quite a few years back. When the 2016 first came out, it had Apple Carplay functionality on the earlier radios but not Android Auto. The update allowed Android Auto to work.

 

I believe that in order to do the update, it has to be done using dealer equipment while connected to the internet. It is a long process and would take an hour, maybe longer to do. It was available free of charge back I believe when the trucks were still under warranty. I had heard they still have the ability to do it but will now charge a fee to do it but it's not cheap. You may be better off looking at something like WAMS https://www.whiteautoandmedia.com/product-category/chevrolet-gmc-truck-suvs/fullsizetruck/k2/ who offer options with Oem radios.

And I just realized that @TomJim posted this back on Jan 3rd as his 1 and only post and then just disappeared on same day. Maybe he already found his answer??? Only the shadow knows...
