this is long, but I think it's amusing....or sad

Okay, my frined asks me to go check out a 1992 BMW 325is 5-speed for him, he's a Honda guy and trusts my opinion. Well, here's the beef(the good part will be what the seller said):

headliner is gone

interior looks like a warzone

need new dorr panels and speaker grilles

carpet stained everywhere

passenger seat dosen't tilt foward

the car has a new hood and bumper

if there is suppsoed to be a fan behind the bumper, it's missing

the tube/hose that runs off the alternator is gone

PS, oil, and brake fluid needs to be changed

needs a new passenger fender(dented, starting to rust)

the fender wheel well is missing

has a red :O: light on the dash(some brake warning light)

muffler is rotted

headlights very yellow, has a black eyebrow PAINTED on.

A/C dosen't work

"good" stuff:

H&R springs, bilstein shocks

seemed to run and drive fine

it has 4,200 written on it, the guy said he'd take $3250(US).

NOW THE GOOD PART!!!!

I told my friend who was dead set on the car, that he could find MUCH better for 6-7K if he was patient, and he'd at least have to put that much in this car(total) in order for it to be in good shape. He didn't care, and wanted the car(his mom would pay for repairs). So, as a last measure, I told him to AT LEAST have a BMW mechanic(my guy) to check it out:

He walks up to the seller and says:

"I like it, but I would like to take it to a BMW specialist"

seller reply:

"I DON'T think so, I'm not going to mess with that bull****, either buy it or not, I don't even care"

I told my frined this is the kind of car you run from............

he still wants it, and I told him if he buy's it he could easily end up very sorry....

what do you guys think?

R U kidding? No chance, no way, no how. I've lost tons of money on cars that looked good, ran good, and checked out fine by my favorite former professional mechanic (me). Some people can't be saved from themselves. If your friend has the capability to learn from his mistakes, tell him the facts and let him forge onward into the pit of debt. Mistakes made are sometimes the best life lesson. Finally, if the car is really dangerous, go to his mother. I'd rather have a mad friend than a dead one. Good luck!

The best thing that could happen to that car would be to put a rag in the gas tank fill tube and light it on fire in a field.

A rolling molotov cocktail! Thats probably the best thing for that car. That or maybe laying it on the bottom of a really deep waterway.
